Who You Are

I had random music playing on my phone and then one of my favorite songs “Who You Are” by Jessie J came on. I first heard about this song when I was watching The X-Factor auditions. A girl who had been bullied all throughout high school chose to sing this song as her audition song and evoked the pain and struggle that many of us face. I downloaded the original and was blown away even more. The chorus goes a little something like this::

Don’t lose who you are

in the blur of the stars

Seeing is deceiving dreaming is believing

Its okay not to be okay

Sometimes its hard

To follow your heart

Tears don’t mean you’re losing

Everybody’s bruising

There’s nothing wrong with who you are

I have talked to so many people who are trying to live up to others expectations. They want to fit the mold that they feel will make worthy instead of doing what makes them happy. It is difficult to follow your own path especially when it seems like you are alone. What is right is not always popular but focusing on becoming the best you that you can be in all aspects of life should be your ultimate goal. Having to put on a facade for others will deter you from your destiny. You cannot live your life for others now without regretting it later. It takes time to get to that point where you just don’t give a fuck what anyone else says(trust me I am still working on that) but know that once you are able to tune out the others and listen to your inner voice, you will not only find clarity but you will be one step closer to where you want to be in life and most importantly, who you want to be. Check out the song below by both artists and let me know if you are where you want to be in life right now and if not, what steps you are taking to get there:)
