(Wo)Man in the Mirror

“If you want to make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change”

woman mirrorI am always talking about wanting to take over the world. I tell anyone who will listen that I want to be the “Internet Oprah” and I have all of these creative ideas and visions on how to help people see the best version of themselves. So much passion and drive but yet at times, I feel like I’m still stuck at Point A when I should be at Point C. I would feel like I am trapped because all of this potential but unless its unlocked, it will never be beneficial to anyone else. I had to take a hard look at myself and see that I am the one that is holding me back. All of those doubts and fears have kept me tied down from going to the next level. I can’t speak about giving others confidence if I am not confident in myself or my abilities. Most importantly, trying to “fix” others shouldn’t be the goal. I am not a therapist and I don’t intend on ever going that route. I just want people to feel comfortable with themselves and see things as they are and work on getting their lives to the place where they can say that they are happy with their lives. Not being content, not maintaining but truly happy.

My mother has been going through a lot with my father and as a result of issues that he brought upon himself, he had to move out. She came up to me yesterday and was telling me about a question on Family Feud( she loves the game show) where 100 people were asked on a scale of 1-10 how would you rate your life. The number one answer was a 10 and my mother was shocked because she hasn’t felt that highly of her life in a long time. All of the dissapointments that my father has brought into her life along with unfulfilled hopes and dreams has brought her into this pessimistic state of mind. I don’t want to look in the mirror 40 years from now and have any regrets on the decisions I’ve made. To prevent that from happening, I have to be confident in myself and what I want out of life and not let anyone or anything bring me to a frame of mind that will have me feeling otherwise. Life experiences are the best lessons anyone can have and living by example has more of an impact than words can express.  In other words…lead by example:)
