Acquiring Time Management Skills

Time-Management-quoteGood Morning! Today, I wanted to discuss something that has affected me for as long as I can remember. Even though I consider myself to be a creative person with great ideas, I don’t always execute those ideas to the best of my ability. A lot of my issues come about because I’m not organized so instead of setting up schedules and doing specific tasks as specific times, I attempt to do everything all at once and overwhelm myself. This could all be avoided by working on my time management skills.

According to WebMd, there are 6 time management tips that will work for any lifestyle or profession and they are:

1. Make a Time Diary

2. Learn to Say “No”

3. Create a Time-Based, To-Do List

4. Let Your Computer Help

5. Multitask Safely

6. Don’t Be a Perfectionist

Out of all the things on the list that I need to do, creating a time based to do list is number 1 for me. I realize that I not only need to create a to do list but I need to set out a specific time to do each task on my list. That way, I won’t feel overwhelmed when it comes to completing the tasks and I can also schedule activities that aren’t work related and  use that down time to re-energize and prepare myself for the next day.

I work from home for half of the day so time management is very important to the success of the freelance work that I do. If I don’t complete a task on time, I’m mainly hurting myself and most importantly my pockets! I am learning slowly but surely that being ready may take some time but planning and being organized will get your further in life.

Progress is definitely a process and I thank you all for being so patient with me. Love ya!

My Mental Makeover

Happy New Year! I know I’m a little over a week late but I wanted to make sure that my first post of 2016 was one that was a reflection of my life. My friends and I did a “New Year, New Me” makeover contest through the site and the 2 winners were treated to a makeover on Sunday. Can’t wait for you guys to see the before and after pics and video 😀 These ladies definitely deserved a makeover and I started thinking about the makeover of sorts that I’ve had. In the past month, I’ve started a new part-time job as a marketing assistant, I was promoted at my other part-time job (which is now full-time) and I have some other side hustles in the works. I have been very blessed and I realized that the reason for these opportunities are happening at once is because I’m slowly but surely changing my way of thinking. In the past, I always felt like no matter how hard I tried, I’d still be stuck in the same place. After awhile, I started settling for what I had instead of going after bigger and better things. I had big goals and aspirations for my life but became content with being mediocre.

I would’ve never admitted this to anyone but I became complacent when it felt like failure was inevitable and ended up miserable in the process. It wasn’t until I conquered my fear of driving that everything fell into place. The fear that mentally crippled me was gone and I felt like I could do anything if I gave it all I had. Soon enough, other areas of my life fell into place. Job opportunities came and things that felt like they were out of reach are now within my grasp. The possibilities are endless and I realize that nothing would have manifested unless my mentality changed. My new mentality changed my approach to different situations and as a result, changed the situations themselves. It’s a makeover that may not be visible to others but has been a major change that has and will continue to have an impact on my life 😀

Stay tuned for the “New Year, New Me” makeover pics and interviews as well as more posts that I hope will inspire you in the days, weeks and months to come.
